Welcome to the Granville Fire Department web site. The GFD is a municipal volunteer fire department responsible for the safe and efficient execution of life, property, and environmental preservation through fire suppression, specialized rescue, BLS Ambulance service, and code compliance enforcement to the citizens and visitors of Granville Massachusetts.

Approximately twenty-four volunteer members provide 24/7 coverage to approx. 1,600 permanent residents. Two stations located on state route 57 cover the 43 square miles of town. In addition to local emergency response, mutual aid assistance is provided to all surrounding communities. The Fire Department also administers the issuance of smoke/CO detector certificates, petroleum tank installation permits, underground oil tank removal permits, open burning permits, and oil heating appliance permits.

GFD Bulletins

  • The Granville Fire Department is currently seeking volunteers to fill many available firefighter and/or EMT positions. No experience is necessary to join our team only the willingness to learn the necessary skills to serve. For more information please visit the station on any Tuesday evening around 7:30 p.m. to look around and ask questions.
  • Please make sure that your home address numbers are clearly visible from the street and will not be obstructed from view by snow banks. It is important to display a reflective address maker to mitigate any delay in response from Police, Fire, and Ambulance services. If you still do not have a reflective address marker, Granville EMS still has many signs available. Click Here for more information.
  • The GFD will begin issuing open burning permits on January 15th, 2016. The open burning season ends April 31st. For more information on the permitting process and brush burning regulations Click Here.
  • Please be advised that all inspections required by the fire department must be initiated by submitting the aplicable application. Applications can be obtained by contacting the fire department at (413) 357-8572. Our Administrative Assistant is available Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM, for any questions. We cannot perform any inspection without a completed application and associated fee(s) paid.
  • Chimneys, soild fuel burning appliances, and propane/LNG furnace permits are administered by the building and/or plumbing inspector. Propane TANKS must be permitted by the fire department.
